BYU Merit Badge Pow Wow

Brigham Young University is excited to announce that it will hold a Spring PowWow for the first time on March 7th and 21st! Classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:45 p.m. both Saturdays. The merit badges that will be offered are listed on the PowWow website (powwow.byu.edu) along with other general information. Registration for this program opens February 2nd at 10:00 a.m and will close February 25th at 5:00 p.m. All registration will be done on-line at the previously given website. No walk-ons will be permitted into the classrooms. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions about registration, please call (801) 422-8925. Court of Honor--Coming Soon

A court of honor was planned for the 22nd of January. This conflicts with the Draper Temple Open House and as a result will not be held on the 22nd. That said a court of honor is coming to your local meeting house SOON! Please work on finishing up those partial merit badges, and other advancements. You have worked hard and we want you to receive credit for the work you have done.

Clark Planetarium Outing

Tuesday December 9th (Please note the change in time. We will not meet for Scouts your Young Men's on the 10th). We will going to Clark Planetarium as part of our astronomy merit badge activities.

We will be leaving from the Church parking lot at 5:30 pm please begin arriving at 5:20 pm. We will not be eating dinner on our field trip so please eat before you come. You may bring money to buy a snack if you choose. The show we will be seeing is on black holes and begins at 6:45 pm .

We are planning to see the lights on temple square after the show. We will most likely be returning between 8:30pm and 9pm.

Personal Fitness Merit Badge

For the past few weeks we have been working on the Personal Fitness Merit Badge.

Braydon, Tyson, Riley, Gentry, completed the following requirements:

• A1, A2, A3, A4, A5,
• 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F,
• 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E, 3F , 3G, 3H, 3J, 3K
• 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D
• 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D

You should have your parents work with you to help you comlete requirements 6,7,8. I know some you have started these sections at different times but will probably need some assistance from parents to complete the 12 week fitness plans.

Tyson, also completed requirement 9.

Please let me know once requirements are complete. I am happy to help you find a merit badge counciler to sign off the requirements.

Personal Fitness Merit Badge

This Wednesday (11/12) we will be working on the personal fitness merit badge. Some of the boys have already started working on this badge and so we are trying to give those who are partially through it an opportunity to complete the merit badge. As we work on merit badges we ask that each boy scout come prepared with the following:

• Pen or Pencil
• 3 Ring Binder (to keep merit badge worksheets)
• Scout Handbook
  

Family Life Merit Badge

A few weeks ago we started the family life merit badge. The boys completed some of the requirements. As we reviewed this required merit badge it became clear that this merit badge will require a lot of support from the parents. Our goal is to finish the requirements for the merit badge 90 days from now. This will require that they keep a chore chart and participate in a number of other family activities during that time. On January 28th we will have the merit badge councilor come review and sign of the requirements for the boys.
